The Howling Fire and The Silent City are a pair of contrasting, complimentary EPs. They are an album's worth of material split in two halves; light/dark, up/down, yin/yang, Side A/Side B.

After the descent into madness of The Howling Fire, The Silent City represents the ensuing struggle, and aims to capture the band's quieter, more intimate side. They explore new territory in adding a chamber orchestra to two tracks, utilizing oboe, trombone, trumpet, violin, cello and orchestral percussion. In addition, Melbourne swing sisters The Nymphs have contributed their luscious vocal harmonies to the set.
